Problem Gambling Foundation

The Problem Gambling Foundation offers free face to face and online counselling. Sessions are confidential and tailored to your situation. They also run support groups for affected family members, plus specific services for Māori, Pacific and Asian communities.

Salvation Army Oasis

Local support charities offer free counselling for problem gambling and related issues like debt and family stress. With centres , they take a whole of life approach, not just gambling specific. Visit your local support service for confidential assistance.

Blocking software for your devices

Blocking software removes temptation by making gambling sites inaccessible from your phone, tablet and computer. The two most popular tools are Gamban and BetBlocker. Both block thousands of gambling sites worldwide and cannot be uninstalled until the chosen block period ends.

Install them on every device you own, including your work computer if relevant, for maximum effect. They are free for individuals.

Financial support

If gambling has caused debt, free financial mentoring is available through MoneyTalks (0800 345 123). They will help you build a budget, talk to creditors and create a realistic plan to get back on track. There is no cost and no judgement.
